3M Boron carbide Paste Polishing & Lapping Compound
The polishing of Plastic Molds and Lapping of Carbide can now be accomplished without the use of expensive diamond compound. Boron Carbide Poishing Paste HAS OVER 80% OF DIAMOND HARDNESS, a specific weight next to diamond and a greater pressure resistance than all other abrasives.
Some of the many uses for which Boron Carbide Polishing Paste has been found successful is the lapping of Carbide Dies and Blanks, polishing of Plastic Moulds and Die Casting Dies, lapping of Gauges and Holes in die work, Die Faces and the lapping of cutting edges of various types of cutting tools for greater wear. It has also been proven to be quite excellent for lapping of valves and other moving parts to reduce friction.
The paste can quite easily be loaded on all cast iron or brass lapp wheels as well as wooden dowel pins for the lapping of holes. It can also be used with felt bobs or mounted brushes for mold polishing. If necessary, the paste can be thinned down with PEG 400 (polyethylene glycol 400). Boron Carbide Polishing Paste is supplied in the following grits : 150, 180, 220, 320, 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1200, 1500 and 2000 water soluble.
